Montreal, June 22nd 2017 – Through a newly signed, historic partnership with Judo Canada, Hatashita International has committed to becoming the national federation’s first-ever exclusive supplier of judogi. Roman Hatashita, a former member of the Canadian judo team, will equip the cadet, junior, and senior level selections for the next three years leading up to the 2020 Olympic Games.
"As a former athlete, I am proud and delighted to be able to give back to a sport that has given me so much,” stated Roman Hatashita after the agreement was announced. “Judo has a long heritage in my family, spanning generations. We are excited to assist our Canadian athletes and hope to contribute to producing World and Olympic champions.”
Roman’s uncle, Frank Hatashita, was the president of Judo Canada for 20 years. He also served three terms as vice-president of the International Judo Federation. Roman Hatashita competed in the Olympics with his father, John, as his coach. Roman’s company, Hatashita International, is Canada’s premier supplier and distributor of combat sports equipment.
‘’This is the first such commitment Judo Canada has ever received and is a major contribution from a private judo gear company,’’ stated Nicolas Gill, CEO of Judo Canada. “Mizuno judogi are widely recognized as some of the best in the world, if not the best. Providing our athletes with the finest high-performance uniforms will increase their confidence. This, combined with a lot of hard work, will, we hope, translate into medals for our Canadian athletes."
